Uzbekistan Culture Week and Uzbek Cinema Days to be held in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, June 12. /Dunyo IA/. An online meeting was held between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev, Director of the Conematography Agency Shukhrat Rizaev, First Deputy Minister of Culture Avazbek Tazhikhanov, and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan Attaullah Tarar, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed further development of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as the implementation of agreements reached at the level of the heads of the two states.

Special attention was paid to the co-production of a feature film dedicated to the life and heritage of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, expanding information exchange, and strengthening cooperation in mass communications and media.

Minister Attaullah Tarar recalled the agreements reached during the high-level negotiations held in February 2025 in Tashkent and in February 2026 in Islamabad. He emphasized that the Prime Minister of Pakistan pays special attention to the practical implementation of the initiatives and proposals put forward by the President of Uzbekistan.

In this regard, the minister noted the importance of accelerating work on the film project about Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur to raise public awareness of the shared history, rich cultural heritage, and common values connecting the brotherly peoples of the two countries. Furthermore, Pakistani side expressed readiness to organize the “Uzbekistan Culture Week” in the country at a high level.

“We propose to establish separate joint working groups to accelerate work on the Babur film and prepare for the “Uzbekistan Culture Week” in Pakistan. These groups must agree on specific tasks and a plan of practical measures as soon as possible”, - stated Attaullah Tarar.

During the negotiations, the parties also discussed the possibility of holding a separate meeting at the leadership level of the relevant ministries of both countries to review the results of the joint working groups' activities, as well as to finalize organizational and technical issues related to the filming of the Babur movie. For these purposes, the possibility of organizing a visit of a delegation of Uzbek specialists to Pakistan in August of this year was considered.

The parties supported the initiative to hold the “Uzbekistan Culture Week” and “Uzbek Cinema Days” in Pakistan in November–December of this year. In addition, they emphasized the importance of organizing the premiere screening of the film dedicated to the life and activities of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur within the framework of these cultural events.

Following the negotiations, parties agreed to continue the consistent implementation of joint projects aimed at further intensifying cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
