Uzbekistan’s boxing squad secures second place in licenses for Paris 2024 Olympics

TASHKENT, June 4. /Dunyo IA/. The qualifying boxing tournaments for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics have concluded, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the National Olympic Committee, the competitions were highly competitive, making it challenging for participants to secure their places among the top boxers.
Following the results of the qualifying stage, the Uzbekistan national team won 11 tickets to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games (7 men and 4 women). Notably, for the first time, Uzbekistan’s female boxers were awarded 4 licenses for the main competition, while the men’s team secured Olympic tickets for the third consecutive time.
In terms of the number of boxing licenses won, Uzbekistan ranked second after Australia. Representatives from the "green continent" won 12 tickets, while our compatriots secured 11. It is important to note that the Australians won these licenses at the Pacific region tournament, where competition is relatively low. They obtained all their licenses at continental competitions. An Australian boxer who competed at the world qualifying tournament was defeated in the first round and ended his participation.
