Fencers of Uzbekistan to kick off 2026 International Season with prestigious competitions

TASHKENT, January 5. /Dunyo IA/. The Uzbekistan national fencing team is set to kick off the 2026 international season by participating in several prestigious competitions, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the country’s fencers will begin their first international tournaments of the new sports year on January 7-8. Uzbek athletes will compete across multiple major events under the auspices of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) in the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, and France.
From January 8 to 11, the Épée World Cup stage will take place in the UAE. Uzbekistan will be represented by Meyirkhan Timurov, Javokhir Nurmatov, Ahmad Fayziev, Nurmukhammad Muminov as well as Dilnaz Murzataeva, Malika Hakimova, Sevara Rakhimova and Shahzoda Egamberdieva.
Simultaneously, from January 9 to 11, the Sabre Grand Prix stage in Tunisia will gather the world’s top sabreurs. The Uzbek team will include Islam Abdazov, Musa Aymuratov, Sardor Abdukarimbekov, Zukhriddin Kadirov, Alpomish Urakboev, as well as Zaynab Dayibekova, Fernanda Herrera, Gulistan Perdibaeva, Samira Shokirova and Nargiza Jakshibaeva.
During the same dates, from January 9 to 11, France will host the Rapier World Cup stage, featuring Uzbek fencers Ilyas Molin, Ahmadillakhon Salikhodzhiev, Radmir Semeneev, and Ulugbek Usmanov.
Participation in these first international competitions of 2026 represents a key step in preparing Uzbekistan’s fencers for the season’s major events, providing an opportunity to assess their readiness against the world’s leading athletes.
