Uzbekistan begins preparations for the 2027 U-20 World Cup

TASHKENT, December 15. /Dunyo IA/. The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree “On Measures for the Preparation and Hosting of the 2027 U-20 FIFA World Cup”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The decree aims to ensure a high level of organization for this prestigious international tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The decree outlines priority areas of preparation, including the development of modern sports and transport infrastructure in compliance with FIFA requirements, provision of comfortable conditions for participants and fans, and enhancement of Uzbekistan’s international reputation through hosting a world-class sporting event.
Following the FIFA Council decision of October 2, 2025, an Organizing Committee for the preparation and hosting of the 2027 U-20 World Cup has been established, along with a comprehensive Program of Measures.
The committee is tasked with coordinating the activities of government bodies, modernizing stadiums and training facilities, and organizing transportation, medical support, and volunteer services for the tournament.
Special attention is given to financing and logistics. Sources of funding have been identified, and measures are planned to provide free public transport for accredited persons and fans on match days. The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted and alternative power supply to tournament facilities in accordance with FIFA requirements.
As part of international cooperation, a FIFA Regional Office for Central Asian countries will be opened in Tashkent. It will be located in the building of the Uzbekistan Football Association and will serve as a key platform for coordinating football projects and interacting with international sports organizations.
Monitoring the implementation of the decree has been assigned to the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and responsible officials. The successful implementation of these measures is expected to ensure that the 2027 U-20 FIFA World Cup is held at a high organizational level and becomes a significant event for the development of sports and the international image of the country.
