Young Uzbek Chess Players Win World School Team Championship in Almaty

ALMATY, April 12. /«Dunyo» IA/. The World Schools Team Championship 2026 (WSTC 2026) concluded successfully on April 10 for young Uzbek athletes, «Dunyo» IA correspondent reports.
According to the results of the competition, the “Wisdom School” team from Uzbekistan secured first place in the team standings and was awarded gold medals, demonstrating a high level of preparation, strategic thinking, and consistent performance throughout the championship.
The silver medal went to Kurchatov School (Russia), while the bronze medal was awarded to Velammal MHS School (India), completing the top three.
The award ceremony was held following the tournament, during which President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Timur Turlov congratulated the winners and prizeholders and expressed gratitude to all teams, coaches, and partners for their participation and contribution to the successful organization of the event.
According to Turlov, the victory of the Uzbek team was the result of a high level of preparation, effective coaching work, and the systematic development of school chess in the country.
Organizers also noted that the students of “Wisdom School” demonstrated strong team spirit, resilience, and determination to win, which allowed them to confidently outperform their rivals.
