Uzbek Athlete Crowned World Champion at “ONE Samurai 1” Tournament in Tokyo

• 141TOKYO, May 2. /Dunyo IA/. The Japanese capital hosted the prestigious “ONE Samurai 1” international mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
As part of the tournament, talented Uzbek MMA fighter Avazbek Kholmirzaev faced the reigning world champion, the renowned Japanese athlete Yuya Wakamatsu, in the octagon. In an intense bout that garnered significant audience attention, Avazbek Kholmirzaev demonstrated a high level of preparation, speed, and striking precision, allowing him to secure a decisive advantage.
In the second round, he secured a victory over his opponent by knockout, delivering a powerful and unexpected strike. This win allowed Avazbek Kholmirzaev to claim the world title in the “ONE Flyweight MMA” division.
During a meeting organized at the Embassy, Avazbek Kholmirzaev noted that his victory is not only a personal achievement but also a recognition of the growing prestige of the Uzbek school of martial arts on the international stage. He emphasized that this result was made possible by the reforms being implemented in the country to develop sports and support the younger generation, and expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Avazbek Kholmirzaev also expressed his readiness to further enhance the competitiveness of Uzbek athletes on the world stage and to continue bringing honour to the name of Uzbekistan at prestigious international tournaments.
