ТАSHKENT, September 8. /Dunyo IA/.  Starting from December 26^th, 2026, direct flights will be launched for the first time on the Tashkent–Mauritius route, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the uzbektourism.uz portal, in connection with the launch, a bilateral open dialogue between representatives of the tourism industries of Uzbekistan and Mauritius took place in Tashkent.

Event was organized at the initiative of the Uzbek company “Prestige Travel” in cooperation with the Tourism Committee. It brought together representatives of leading tourism companies and hotel brands from Mauritius, as well as local tour operators. The participants discussed the launch of joint tourism projects and opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

According to the plan, at the initial stage, a total of four round-trip flights on the Tashkent–Mauritius route will operate on December 26^th and in January. Starting from June 2027, regular flights on this route are planned to operate once a week.

New route will not only open up a new African market for Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, but also strengthen Tashkent’s potential as a transit hub connecting Central Asian and CIS countries with Mauritius. In the future, travelers from Kazakhstan, Russia, and other CIS countries will be able to fly to Mauritius via Tashkent.

Air connection is being launched as part of the “Open Tourist Season” program, implemented annually from June to August starting in 2026. The program provides financial support measures for tourism market participants. Airlines launching new routes receive a subsidy of $100 for each foreign tourist attracted, as well as a 20% discount on airport services. Local tour operators are provided with a subsidy of $5,000 for every 1,000 tourists attracted from long-haul international markets.

It is worth recalling that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, were established on August 4^th, 1999.
