Prospects for cooperation discussed with the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party

KARACHI, May 7. /Dunyo IA/. As part of the visit of the Uzbekistan delegation to Karachi, led by the Khokim (Governor) of the Navoi region Normat Tursunov and Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, deepening investment cooperation, and taking interregional engagement to a new level. In particular, they considered opportunities for implementing joint investment projects in the Navoi region aimed at increasing industrial potential, creating new jobs and boosting export volumes.
Special attention was paid to establishing modern production facilities in the pharmaceutical industry based on public-private partnerships. The sides emphasized the importance of attracting Pakistan’s advanced expertise in this field, launching the production of high-quality medicines and expanding export potential while simultaneously supplying the domestic market.
In addition, the expansion of cooperation in agriculture was discussed, specifically increasing potato cultivation in the Navoi region by utilizing Pakistan’s advanced agricultural technologies and high-yield seeds.
The parties also touched upon the effective use of logistical and transport infrastructure. In particular, they discussed prospects for exporting meat and meat products from Pakistan, leveraging the strategic geographical location and modern logistical capabilities of the Navoi International Airport, alongside the development of processing and storage systems. It was noted that this would contribute not only to the economic benefit of both sides but also to the strengthening of food security.
A significant focus of the negotiations was also placed on cooperation in the livestock sector. The Pakistani side confirmed its readiness to supply cattle and small ruminants to the Navoi region, as well as to provide practical assistance in breeding, veterinary services, and the development of livestock infrastructure. This will create opportunities for modernizing the industry, increasing productivity, and ensuring the domestic market is supplied with high-quality products.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation, ensure the prompt implementation of practical projects, and establish a constant dialogue. It was also emphasized that interregional engagement plays a vital role in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
