BERLIN, March 5. /Dunyo IA/. The German online publication “S-Bahn Hamburgs” has published an analytical article exploring the rich history, unique architecture and contemporary dynamic development of theatres in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The article recognizes the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre named after Alisher Navoi as a model of harmony between art and architecture. It describes not only the theatre's stage productions but also its architectural masterpieces.
Specifically, it emphasizes the immense human labour and history behind the black marble handrails on the theatre's staircases: “These unique marbles were brought to Tashkent from distant quarries and finished by hand by master craftsmen”.
The publication praises the mirrored patterns and panels reflecting sunlight in the theatre’s “Bukhara Hall” as a pinnacle of craftsmanship, noting that the unique character of each hall leaves a profound impression, especially on international specialists.
It is particularly noted that even in the era of modern technology and digital entertainment platforms, Uzbekistan’s theatres do not lose their audiences. It was also highlighted that in recent years, operas at the Alisher Navoi Theatre have been performed in their original languages, which contributes to an increasing flow of international spectators.
According to the German publication, there are currently 41 state theatres operating in Uzbekistan, where, alongside historical works, performances are staged in collaboration with foreign directors. Most importantly, it notes that Uzbek theatres now embark on international tours, showcasing their art on world stages.
“Theatre in Uzbekistan is not merely a spectacle, but a sacred place where living traditions, high craftsmanship and human bonds passed down through generations are embodied”, emphasized German journalist Lennardt Krüger.
