Leading Pakistani newspapers, including “Daily Financial Times” and “The Daily Morning News”, as well as the online publication “Metro-Morning”, have published articles under the headline “Uzbekistan and Pakistan: Bonds beyond borders”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The publications emphasize that Pakistan warmly welcomed the historic event of Uzbekistan gaining independence, celebrating it enthusiastically from the very first days following its proclamation. Bekzod Alimjanov, an expert at the Center for Foreign Policy Studies and International Initiatives of Uzbekistan and the author of the articles, noted that during his visit to Pakistan, he personally experienced the sincerity and warmth of relations between the two peoples. Despite the geographical distance, a spiritual closeness is felt, along with the readiness of Pakistani friends to share in both celebrations and moments of difficulty.
The author highlights the special role of the shared historical legacy of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur in bringing the two nations together. This heritage has provided a strong foundation for similarities in traditions, languages and cultural worldviews.
The articles also note that bilateral relations have been steadily developing, reaching the level of a strategic partnership in 2021. This milestone reflects the deepening of cooperation, its expanding scope and the emergence of new areas for collaborative initiatives between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The reports further highlight that in recent years, the strengthening of friendly ties has been driven by the firm political will of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, as well as the trust-based and constructive dialogue that has developed between them.
Over the past decade, Uzbekistan and Pakistan have achieved significant progress in political dialogue, expanded trade and economic cooperation, strengthened defense and security collaboration, intensified cultural and humanitarian exchanges and coordinated positions on regional and international issues. Today, relations between Tashkent and Islamabad continue to develop steadily on the basis of good-neighborliness, mutual trust and respect for each other’s interests.
