NEW YORK, March 4. /Dunyo IA/.  The 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission has commenced in New York, with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Behzod Khamraev, Chairman of the National Committee on Statistics, in attendance, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the session, participants will discuss key issues, including the improvement of the indicator system for monitoring the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, expanding the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in official statistics production, developing the "Beyond GDP" concept for a more comprehensive assessment of progress and well-being and integrating environmental and climate change data into national reporting systems.

A significant highlight was the election of the head of the Uzbekistan delegation, Behzod Khamraev, as Vice-Chair of the 57th session of the Statistical Commission, which will continue until March 6.

It is noted that the participation of the Uzbek delegation is of particular importance as the country conducts its first-ever comprehensive population and agricultural census, carried out in strict accordance with the latest UN international recommendations.

Uzbekistan’s active engagement within the session reaffirms the republic's commitment to the principles of data openness and transparency. High-level meetings with the leadership of the UN Statistical Commission and leading international experts are scheduled on the sidelines of the forum.

As a reminder, in April 2025, Uzbekistan was elected as a full member of the UN Statistical Commission for the 2026-2029 term for the first time in its history.
