“The Gulf Observer”: Uzbekistan’s passenger car output projected to reach almost one million units by 2030

ISLAMABAD, January 14. /Dunyo IA/. The Pakistani digital publication “The Gulf Observer” has published an article titled “Uzbekistan targets sharp rise in passenger car production through 2030”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that over the next five years, Uzbekistan’s passenger car production is expected to more than double. This target is enshrined in the updated version of the “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy. According to the strategy, domestic production of passenger cars is planned to reach 460,000 units in 2026, increasing to 550,000 units in 2027 and 700,000 units in 2028. The figures are expected to further rise to 800,000 units by 2029 and nearly one million units by 2030, reflecting the government’s long-term objectives for the automotive sector.

According to the publication, production data for January–November 2025 indicate strong momentum in the industry. During this period, Uzbekistan produced 419,338 passenger cars, averaging 38,121 units per month. While official data for December have yet to be released, the output recorded in the first 11 months of 2025 has already surpassed the country’s total production for 2024, which stood at 399,327 units.

The report highlights that “UzAuto Motors” continued to hold the largest share of the domestic automotive market over the first 11 months of 2025. However, the company reported reduced production across most of its models, with the “Tracker” being the only exception.

The publication “The Gulf Observer” highlights that several international manufacturers operating in Uzbekistan recorded notable growth. BYD showed the strongest expansion, increasing production from 2,198 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2024 to 17,510 units in the same period of 2025 - an almost eightfold increase within a year. “Kia”, “Chery” and “Haval” also reported growth in their production volumes, highlighting the increasing diversification and competitiveness of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry.
