Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in sustainable waste management

ASTANA, May 2. /Dunyo IA/. On the sidelines of the Regional Environmental Summit, the Kazakh company “Zhasyl Damu” and the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to “Zhasyl Damu”, the document is aimed at developing long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in sustainable waste management, as well as strengthening the international partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The memorandum was signed by Yerzhan Sarsenbay, Chairman of “Zhasyl Damu” and Sharifbek Hasanov, Director of the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency.
Under the framework of the memorandum, the parties agreed to:
· Exchange expertise and best practices in waste management, including the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mechanisms;
· Develop joint projects and initiatives aimed at modernizing waste recycling infrastructure;
· Promote the principles of a circular economy and enhance environmental awareness and culture.
The company noted that the signing of this document represents a significant step toward ensuring environmental sustainability at the regional level and advancing the “green” economy.
