Uzbekistan and Pakistan enter a new stage of cooperation in ophthalmology and medical tourism

• 124RAWALPINDI, May 14. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev, visited the central clinic of the Pakistani eye care network “Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital”, where he held talks with the President of the institution Rehmat Khan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
At the beginning of the meeting, Pakistani side was presented with information about the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In particular, the issues of deep modernization of the healthcare system, providing the population with highly qualified medical services, developing private medicine, expanding medical tourism opportunities and training personnel in accordance with international standards were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the development of ophthalmology in Uzbekistan, the introduction of modern diagnostic and microsurgical technologies, the application of innovative approaches in the sector, and the expansion of practical cooperation with leading foreign medical institutions.
In turn, Rehmat Khan spoke about the long-standing experience of the “Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital” network in the field of diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases in Pakistan, conducting high-tech ophthalmic surgeries, providing social and charitable medical assistance to the population, as well as training specialists and advanced training in the field of ophthalmology.
- We are interested in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with public and private medical institutions of Uzbekistan in the fields of ophthalmology, medical education and medical tourism. Particularly great opportunities exist in the area of specialist training and exchange of experience, - he noted.
During the talks, the parties also discussed possibilities for preferential and charitable treatment of Uzbek citizens, especially socially vulnerable categories of the population, the development of medical tourism in the field of ophthalmology, the establishment of cooperation with higher, vocational, and technical medical educational institutions in Uzbekistan, as well as the organization of advanced training and practical training programs for students, doctors and nursing staff.
In addition, the prospects for implementing joint research projects, utilizing telemedicine capabilities, and organizing preventative check-ups in the regions of Uzbekistan were reviewed.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to organize a working visit of the “Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital” delegation to Uzbekistan to determine specific areas of cooperation, as well as to hold meetings with relevant ministries and medical institutions.
As part of the visit, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan also familiarized himself with the modern conditions created for patients in the clinic, the processes of diagnosis and treatment, high-tech medical equipment and the level of medical services provided.
