KUALA LUMPUR, May 21. /Dunyo IA/. Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia hosted a presentation of fresh produce currently grown in Uzbekistan, including sweet cherries, apricots, and nectarines (peaches), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The presentation was attended by representatives from more than ten Malaysian companies engaged in the wholesale and retail trade of fruits and vegetables, including major retail chains and importing companies such as “NSK Grocer Sdn Bhd”, “MBG Fruits Sdn Bhd”, “Wonderfruits & Vegetables Import and Export Sdn Bhd”, “Natures Best Sdn Bhd”, “Hoi Yong Fruits Marketing Sdn Bhd” and “MJL Future Plantation Sdn Bhd”.

During the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev, noted that there is a significant unrealized potential in trade and economic relations between our countries, especially regarding the export of local fruit, vegetable and processed food products to Malaysia and through it to the markets of Southeast Asia.

The participants were presented with proposals from leading Uzbek export companies for the supply of sweet cherries, apricots and nectarines (peaches) to the Malaysian market.

It was noted that in the supply of agricultural products from Uzbekistan to Malaysia, an agreement was reached to optimize the shipping costs of fresh fruits along the “Tashkent – Kuala Lumpur – Tashkent” route using regular flights that ensure product delivery from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur Airport.

During the negotiations, “MBG Fruits Sdn Bhd” (a major fruit importer) and “NSK Grocer Sdn Bhd” (a major retail chain) expressed their readiness to consider purchasing high-quality seasonal fresh fruits from Uzbekistan at competitive prices.

At the conclusion of the presentation, the event participants sampled the fresh fruits brought from Uzbekistan — sweet cherries, apricots and nectarines (peaches) — and highly praised their quality. The parties agreed to continue negotiations on regular supplies of these products to the Malaysian market.
