OTTAWA, June 10. /Dunyo IA/. Former Air Canada pilot Jeffrey Wall faces criminal charges after an investigation revealed that he operated passenger airliners for nearly 17 years without the required license, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with “CNN”.
According to Canadian police, between 2009 and 2025, the pilot completed over 900 domestic and international flights as a captain without holding an “Airline Transport Pilot License” (ATPL-A), which is mandatory for the position.
According to Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, over his years of service, Jeffrey Wall operated Boeing 767, 777, and 787 aircraft and earned approximately 3 million Canadian dollars.
The investigation states that while the pilot held a commercial license and was legally authorized to operate aircraft, he failed to obtain the required qualification following his promotion to captain in 2009. Police allege that he misled both his employer and the aviation regulator regarding his credentials.
The infraction was identified in 2025 during a routine document audit when discrepancies were discovered in the license. “Air Canada” subsequently notified the regulator, and an investigation was launched in January, by which time Jeffrey had already retired.
“Air Canada” stated that flight safety was never compromised, as all pilots undergo mandatory retraining every six months and annual flight proficiency checks. At the same time, the airline emphasized that compliance with licensing requirements is a critical element of the aviation safety system.
According to police, Jeffrey was fined by the regulator and now faces seven criminal charges, including fraud over USD 5,000, using forged documents, and possession of counterfeit marks. The court hearing for the case is scheduled for June 29th.
