ANDIJAN, June 25. /Dunyo IA/. The performance of the Uzbek national dance “Andijan Polka” has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest mass performance of the dance, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the Andijan regional khokimiyat.

According to reports, as part of the international event “Andijan – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World – 2026,” the dance was performed simultaneously by 20,000 participants.

Following the performance, a representative of Guinness World Records confirmed that a new record had been set, noting that the event met all international requirements. In a ceremonial presentation, the official certificate was handed to the Governor (Khokim) of Andijan Region, Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov.

The regional leader emphasized that this achievement represents recognition of the cultural heritage not only of Andijan Region but of the entire Uzbek nation.

“Andijan Polka” is a traditional Uzbek folk dance known for its fast tempo and energetic movements. Over time, it has gained widespread popularity among women as well, although it was previously performed mainly by men.

Earlier, it was reported that Andijan’s Devzira plov had also received geographical indication status.
