MOSCOW, June 24. /Dunyo IA/. Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov stated at the 12th Ambassadors’ Roundtable held at the Diplomatic Academy that the West has failed in its role as an honest broker and should not be taken seriously, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing “Interfax”.

“Now we are focusing on achieving the goals of a special military operation based on the fact that all Western approaches and all hopes for the West as an honest mediator have long since failed,” the diplomat said, adding that “they just don’t need to be taken seriously.”

“As for the United States, as far as their actions can be assessed, they seem to be moving away from the claim to be an objective mediator and following the same course of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia,” said Sergey Lavrov.

The minister added that “the statement made by the President of the United States immediately after Anchorage has also been forgotten – that Ukraine needs a long-term peace, not a truce for a couple of years, and that Alaska had laid the foundation for moving in that direction.”

Sergey Lavrov also expressed the opinion that “the current elites in Europe” do not hide that they are preparing for war with Russia “no later than 2030.” At the same time, Russia, according to him, “is ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine at the point where they stopped.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today that the US President’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are busy with other issues, but it is expected that contacts with them on Ukraine will resume as soon as they become available.

“We have an understanding that contacts will continue. They are ready to listen to all sides and it is worth a lot now. It is clear that they are currently busy with other matters, but at some point they will be available, and we look forward to further work,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
