TEHRAN–BEIRUT, August 16. /Dunyo IA/. Iran said Qatar is holding three of its pilots who went missing after their aircraft were shot down in March, while Doha denied the allegations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing The Associated Press.

Iran’s General Staff Search Committee for Missing Persons said Qatar had captured and was holding three Iranian pilots who went missing after their aircraft were shot down in March. Tehran said for the first time that the pilots could be in another regional country and appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance.

Qatar denied the allegations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said search and rescue teams had recovered the remains of one of the pilots. According to the Iranian side, a fourth pilot was killed during a mission to strike an enemy military base in Qatar.

In the Strait of Hormuz, another tanker owned by the UAE state oil and gas company “ADNOC” came under attack. There were no casualties. The UAE said it was the third attack on an “ADNOC” vessel in the past week and called on Iran to stop the strikes.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that an unknown projectile damaged the hull of a bulk carrier on August 14. It was unclear whether it was the same vessel.

In Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes killed 11 people. Seven people, including three children, were killed in the southern village of Ansar, while two others were wounded. In the town of Deir al-Zahrani, four people were killed and 17 others were wounded.

The Israeli military said it had killed a Hezbollah battalion commander and several militants. According to the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, three Israeli soldiers were seriously wounded in a drone attack.

In Yemen, the Houthis attacked the port of Mokha on the Red Sea, which is controlled by Yemen’s internationally recognized government. Three people, including two marines, were killed, and port operations were suspended.

The military said the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles. The attack was the latest escalation of the situation in Yemen and the wider region. The movement had previously carried out strikes against targets in Saudi Arabia.
