Over 4.8 million visitors engage with Uzbekistan’s museums in 2024

TASHKENT, August 29. /Dunyo IA/. According to the information of National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2025, the number of museums in Uzbekistan (including branches) was 138, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In 2024, Uzbekistan’s rich cultural tapestry attracted an impressive total of 4.8 million visitors to its museums nationwide, reaffirming the country’s growing stature as a premier destination for heritage tourism. Notably, foreign tourists accounted for 1.4 million of these visitors, underscoring Uzbekistan’s expanding appeal on the global cultural map.


Highlighting the enduring allure of Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural landmarks, the top five museums with the highest attendance figures reflect the diversity and depth of the nation’s heritage:


Samarkand State Museum-Reserve welcomed over 1,035,000 visitors, solidifying its position as the most frequented cultural site.


The Directorate of the Registan Ensemble attracted 908,225 visitors, showcasing the magnificence of this iconic architectural complex.


The State Museum of Glory drew 656,355 guests, emphasizing the country’s reverence for its national history and achievements.


The Bukhara State Museum-Reserve received 489,208 visitors, inviting guests to explore the storied past of this ancient city.


The Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve attracted 456,917 visitors, preserving the unique heritage of the historic inner city of Khiva.


These outstanding figures not only highlight the successful preservation and promotion of Uzbekistan’s cultural treasures but also reflect the effective collaboration between state institutions, cultural organizations, and international partners dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue and sustainable tourism development.
