LAHORE, April 23. /Dunyo IA/. During a working visit to Pakistan’s Punjab province, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev got acquainted with the activities of Diamond Export Industries, its production processes and export potential, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

As part of the visit, negotiations were also held with the company’s head, Khurram Shahzad. The parties exchanged views on further development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation, in particular expanding industrial cooperation in Uzbekistan and implementing joint projects.

During the meeting, the Ambassador provided detailed information on the large-scale economic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, the favourable business environment, and the solid legal framework aimed at comprehensive support for foreign investors. Particular emphasis was placed on the opportunities offered by free economic zones, existing tax and customs incentives, developed infrastructure and conditions created for investors.

The participants discussed promising investment projects planned for implementation in Uzbekistan, especially in the textile and light industry sectors. It was noted that cooperation in this area would be mutually beneficial.

Khurram Shahzad informed that the company is implementing an investment project in the Namangan Free Economic Zone. According to him, the project envisages the establishment of a modern industrial complex for the production of competitive textile products for both domestic and international markets.

 “In 2023, during the President’s visit to Namangan region, we presented this project”, - he said. - In the fourth quarter of 2024, practical implementation began. Preparatory work has been completed at the site allocated through an auction. To date, USD 1 million has already been invested. We are committed to the successful implementation of the project, and our plans are serious and long-term”.

Special attention during the meeting was given to accelerating the project’s implementation and promptly addressing organizational and technical issues. The importance of close coordination with relevant government bodies and institutions was also emphasized.

Following the talks, practical steps were outlined. In particular, an agreement was reached to hold a separate meeting with representatives of Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Light Industry to further accelerate the implementation of the textile complex project in Namangan region.
