ALGIERS, May 8. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mansurbek Kilichev met with the Minister of Mining and Mining Industry of Algeria, Mourad Hanifi, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the mining industry and geological exploration. It was noted that Uzbekistan and Algeria possess significant unrealized potential for interaction in this field.

The Algerian side expressed interest in developing partnerships in the mining and geological sectors with foreign states, particularly Uzbekistan, following the recent establishment of the Ministry of Mining as an independent structure.

It should be noted that Algeria is the largest country in Africa by territory and possesses significant reserves of natural resources, including phosphates, iron, zinc, and other minerals. The country is implementing major projects for the extraction and processing of raw materials with the participation of foreign partners.

At the meeting, it was stated that Algeria requires modern technologies and know-how in the fields of geological exploration and the mining industry and is interested in expanding international cooperation.

Minister reported that legislative reforms were conducted in the country's mining sector in 2025, aimed at the efficient use of mineral resources, attracting foreign investment, and modernizing industry management.

According to Mourad Hanifi, these reforms mark a new stage in the sector's development, where the state maintains control while simultaneously creating conditions to attract foreign capital and technology.

The Algerian side also supported initiatives for joint geological exploration, cooperation in personnel training, scientific research, and the potential supply of uranium to Algeria and other African countries.
