Uzbekistan and Serbia agree to fast-track list of goods for preferential trade

BELGRADE, May 7. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Serbia Adrijana Mesarović, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Serbian trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the outcomes of the Minister's visit to Uzbekistan in February 2026 and the implementation of reached agreements. Participants confirmed their interest in expanding business contacts and promoting joint initiatives.
During the negotiations, it was noted that the Economic Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and Serbia has entered into force. Additionally, an agreement was reached to accelerate work on forming the list of goods to be included in the preferential trade regime.
Serbian side supported the initiative to establish trading houses in Uzbekistan and Serbia and expressed readiness to proceed with the project's practical implementation.
Separately, the parties discussed preparations for the visit of a delegation from the Agency for the Development of Light Industry of Uzbekistan to Serbia, scheduled for May 24-26. The trip includes an Uzbek-Serbian business forum, B2B negotiations, meetings with relevant ministries, and visits to leading companies.
Furthermore, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the defines industry, railway infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, labour migration, the chemical industry, e-commerce and the agro-industrial complex.
