ISLAMABAD, April 13. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, held a meeting with Tariq Mahmood Bhatti, Vice-Chairman of the North Zone for the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA), Tariq Mahmood Bhatti, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the dialogue, the parties reviewed ways to intensify bilateral cooperation, issues of implementing joint investment projects and the introduction of innovative solutions into production. Special attention was paid to creating new channels for exporting finished products to foreign markets and expanding value-added chains.

The diplomat provided detailed information on the country's reforms, covering the entire cycle from cotton cultivation to garment production. During the conversation, the significance of the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated January 16, 2025, aimed at developing processing capacities in light industry, was emphasized. This document laid the foundation for strengthening the position of local brands on the international stage and significantly increased the sector's attractiveness for foreign capital. Foreign partners were also briefed on the tax and customs preferences currently in effect in the country.

For his part, Tariq Mahmood Bhatti noted that Pakistan's business circles show high interest in the Uzbek market due to its favorable geographical location and reliable investment climate. He emphasized that the textile industry has become one of the primary drivers of the region's economy. Members of the association expressed their readiness to invest in establishing enterprises for the production of polyester and synthetic fiber fabrics, as well as to consider options for modernizing existing production sites.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a working visit of the Pakistani delegation to Uzbekistan. The trip itinerary will include meetings with representatives of relevant government agencies, direct B2B negotiations with entrepreneurs, and site visits to the country’s largest industrial clusters.
