Uzbek Diaspora showcases culture at the “Unity in Almaty” Festival

ALMATY, May 2. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan participated in an event dedicated to the Day of Unity, reports a correspondent for the Dunyo Information Agency.

The event commenced with the opening of the national cultural festival “Unity in Almaty”. As part of the festival, pavilions representing 15 national cultural centers and public organizations (diasporas) operating in the city of Almaty were showcased at Abai Square.

Under the auspices of the Consulate General, the culture, customs, and traditions of Uzbekistan were presented at the event, showcased by the Uzbek diaspora.

An exhibition of national clothing and traditional handicrafts was organized, featuring costumes made of atlas and adras, brocade chapans for men and women, the renowned Uzbek embroidery known as suzani, as well as handmade ceramics.

During the event, tourism booklets and brochures from Uzbek travel agencies were also distributed to promote the country's travel potential.

The Uzbek pavilion was visited by representatives of local government authorities led by the Akim of Almaty, Yerbolat Dossaev, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, public, cultural and educational organizations, business circles, and festival guests.

The festival featured performances by Kazakhstani pop stars, creative groups, and dance ensembles. Alongside the performances, a diverse gastronomic fair was organized, where 15 restaurants and cultural associations presented traditional dishes from various ethnic groups residing in Kazakhstan.
