“Associated Press of Pakistan” reports on Bukhara's preparations for the 2nd Asian Women's Forum

ISLAMABAD, April 8. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistan’s central news agency, the “Associated Press of Pakistan” (APP), has circulated an article regarding the upcoming 2nd Asian Women’s Forum, scheduled to take place on May 13-15th in Bukhara, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The publication notes that a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of this event was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
It is emphasized that during the meeting, chaired by the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva, a decision was made to hold the forum in collaboration with “UN Women” and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on the specified dates in the city of Bukhara.
As reported by APP, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, previously initiated the transformation of the Asian Women’s Forum into a permanent platform. This proposal was voiced during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly held in September 2025.
The forum is expected to discuss issues regarding the empowerment of women in the region across the sectors of politics, economics, healthcare, education, social protection, as well as climate, ecology and governance. Particular attention will be paid to strengthening global and regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices.
Furthermore, the forum will serve as a platform to present the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to support women, including the expansion of socio-economic opportunities, development of employment and entrepreneurship, enhancement of education and social protection systems and promotion of the country’s tourism potential.
The publication also emphasizes that particular attention will be paid to the implementation of the provisions of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
