Qatar Radio describes Uzbekistan as the “Pearl of Central Asia”

DOHA, February 13. /Dunyo IA/.  Qatar Radio aired a special interview with tourism expert Ayman Al-Kudwan, focusing on the country’s tourism potential, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the conversation with the hosts, he emphasized Uzbekistan’s unique position in Central Asia, its rich historical heritage and modern opportunities for travelers.

“Uzbekistan is the heart of Central Asia, its true gem, - expert noted. It is not merely a tourist destination, but a country with a profound history that preserves the legacy of great civilizations. Uzbekistan captivates with its beauty and cultural diversity and for Muslim and Arab visitors, it holds particular significance, hosting numerous ancient madrasas, religious monuments and historic complexes”.

He highlighted that the territory of modern Uzbekistan has long been at the heart of the Great Silk Road, connecting East and West. Cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva played pivotal roles in world history and are today recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

“Samarkand is renowned for its Timurid-era history and its iconic Registan Square draws visitors from across the globe, - Ayman Al-Kudwan said. - Bukhara is famous for its madrasas, which leave a profound spiritual impression. Khiva stands out for its unique architecture and remarkably well-preserved historical environment”.

The expert also highlighted the convenience of travel for Muslim tourists. “Uzbekistan is a country with a predominantly Muslim population, - he noted. - Visitors from Qatar and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries need not worry about food and beverages. Uzbek cuisine shares many similarities with Qatari and Saudi dishes. The national dish, plov - made from rice, carrots and meat - is particularly popular and appeals to Arab guests. One could say that Uzbek cuisine represents a national interpretation of Arab gastronomic traditions.

According to the expert, interest in Uzbekistan is growing each year. Under the leadership of Ambassador Ashraf Khodjaev, the Embassy has been actively promoting tourism. Citizens of Qatar and GCC countries benefit from a 30-day visa-free regime, complemented by regular direct flights to Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is renowned not only for its history but also for its scenic landscapes. Regions such as Charvak, Aydarkul and Nurata are ideal for family vacations, with the country’s mountainous and green areas often compared to Switzerland.

Climatic conditions vary widely: summer temperatures can reach up to 40°C (104°F), while winter temperatures may drop below zero. Experts recommend spring and autumn as the most comfortable seasons for travel.

“The country’s economy is primarily based on agriculture and the food industry, - Ayman Al-Kudwan concluded. - However, tourism is developing rapidly and Uzbekistan is ready to offer travelers a rich blend of cultural and natural experiences”.
