KYIV, February 15. /Dunyo IA/.  Egypt’s largest company, “Nile Sugar”, will begin implementing a project in Jizzakh Region, Uzbekistan, starting in March, focused on the cultivation of sugar beets, processing and sugar production, according to Ukrainian news portals “Open4business”, “Fixygen” and “rebuild.news”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The project is set to produce up to 200,000 tons of sugar per year, with a total investment of USD 450 million, implemented as foreign direct investment.

Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, emphasized that President has instructed an accelerated implementation of the project:

According to published reports that the project has been placed under separate supervision and its implementation will begin within a compressed timeframe. All necessary documents have been prepared, land plots allocated and investments secured.

Earlier reports indicated that in 2024, land plots were selected in the Gallaorol and Farish districts of Jizzakh Region, covering 50,000 hectares for sugar beet cultivation and 170 hectares for the construction of a sugar refinery.

In January 2026, Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, met with Emad Farid, CEO of “Nile Sugar”. Following the discussions, the parties signed a protocol confirming their readiness to continue coordinated work on the preparation and implementation of joint projects. The document outlines detailed project parameters, financing conditions and the next steps for expanding practical cooperation.

The agreements reached are expected to advance the project into a practical phase, ensuring the gradual launch of joint initiatives, while introducing modern agro-industrial and processing technologies, with subsequent localization of production in Uzbekistan.
