Belarusian Media highlight Priorities of Uzbekistan for its 2027 CIS Chairmanship

Belarusian media have provided extensive coverage of the outcomes of the summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Turkmenistan, paying particular attention to Uzbekistan’s upcoming CIS Chairmanship in 2027, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
“BELTA” Information Agency and the newspaper “SB. Belarus Today” quoted Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as thanking President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for agreeing to assume the CIS Chairmanship and expressing confidence that Uzbekistan would successfully fulfil this mission.
According to “BELTA”, Uzbekistan intends to focus on practical results of cooperation, including the development of industrial cooperation, increased mutual investment, the removal of trade barriers and collaboration in transport, security, science, education and innovation.
Belarusian media also highlighted the similarity of Minsk’s and Tashkent’s approaches to the development of the CIS, emphasizing the importance of moving from declarations to concrete measures to strengthen trade and economic ties and improve citizens’ well-being.
Citing CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, the media outlets also reported that the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth will take place in Bukhara on October 8–9th, 2027.
Belarusian media view Uzbekistan’s upcoming Chairmanship as an opportunity to give fresh impetus to economic cooperation, industrial collaboration and scientific and technological cooperation among CIS countries.
