MOSCOW, September 23. /Dunyo IA/.  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev opened the Karakalpak Scientific and Practical Medical Academy, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the online edition of the popular Russian daily newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

New complex, worth 154 billion soums, is located on a 4.6-hectare site. The center is equipped with 18 simulation rooms for practicing surgical procedures in more than 100 areas, as well as the Edge Medical surgical robot, the only one of its kind in Central Asia, for performing high-precision remote surgical procedures.

Academy is designed to provide retraining for 3,000 doctors, as well as nearly 7,000 nurses and pharmaceutical professionals annually. A comfortable 72-bed hotel has been built on the premises for specialists from remote areas. In addition, the institution has established international cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh in the United States and the University of Freiburg in Germany.

According to the newspaper, the implementation of the project will enable local medical professionals to master advanced medical technologies directly in the region, while the introduction of modern medical solutions will help save thousands of lives in the Aral Sea region.
