RIYADH, June 20. /Dunyo IA/. The 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum was marked by significant participation from Saudi Arabia, reflecting the dynamic development of economic and investment relations with Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the Saudi newspaper “Okaz”.

As part of the forum, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Uzbekistan Saad Nasser Abu Haimed took part in a meeting of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council, where agreements were signed aimed at strengthening economic and investment cooperation and expanding partnerships between the private sectors of both countries.

The meetings and sessions were attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov, as well as representatives of government bodies and business communities.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov held talks with a Saudi delegation led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Investment Promotion Authority Khaled Alkhattaf, with participation from representatives of companies ACWA Power and Vision Invest.

The parties discussed prospects for investment cooperation, implementation of joint projects, and expansion of collaboration across various sectors of the economy.

On the sidelines of the forum, a public-private partnership agreement was signed for the construction and operation of a new international airport in Tashkent.

The project will be implemented by an international consortium led by Saudi company Vision Invest, together with partners from South Korea and Japan. The new airport will be located in the Urtachirchik and Kuyichirchik districts of the Tashkent region, covering an area of approximately 1,310 hectares.

The first phase includes the construction of two 4-kilometer runways, a passenger terminal with an area of 208,000 square meters, 98 aircraft parking stands, a fuel complex, and an air traffic control tower.

The airport is expected to begin operations by the end of 2030 and will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers annually, as well as handle up to 300,000 tons of cargo per year.

The project aims to create a modern aviation hub and strengthen Tashkent’s position as a transport and logistics center in Central Asia.
