UK Media: Uzbekistan launches first small modular reactor NPP Project

LONDON, June 11. /Dunyo IA/. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi participated in a ceremony marking the start of construction for a small modular reactor in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the British portal “World Nuclear News”.
During the event, which was attended virtually by the presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia, he highlighted the significance of the project being implemented in the country for the development of modern nuclear energy and the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies.
The role of the project in fostering interest among international investors and developing related sectors, including the digital economy and high-tech infrastructure, was also emphasized.
To recall, the launch ceremony was also attended by Azim Akhmedkhadjaev Director of the “Uzatom” Agency and Andrey Petrov First Deputy Director General for Nuclear Energy at “Rosatom”. The participants also included representatives from relevant agencies and organizations involved in the implementation of the nuclear power plant construction project in Uzbekistan.
