Poland-Uzbekistan Rectors' Forum addresses the ethics of Artificial Intelligence in education

WARSAW, April 21. /Dunyo IA/. The III Forum of Rectors of Poland and Uzbekistan and the Congress of Universities of Central Asia and the European Union were held in Samarkand on April 13-14, bringing together academicians and scholars, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with reference to the Polish online newspaper “SGH”.

Among the participants was the Vice-Rector for Development of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Professor Dorota Niedziółka, who spoke at the “Social and Economic Sciences” session dedicated to the ethical transformation of data-driven economies.

The central theme of her presentation was the ethics of using artificial intelligence in higher education. According to her, AI has already become an integral part of the daily work of students, faculty and administrative staff and the key question lies not in its application itself, but in its responsible use.

Professor noted that universities must foster critical thinking in students, the ability to verify AI-generated results, and a sense of responsibility for their decisions. She also emphasized the vital balance between innovation and regulation, pointing to the role of the European Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) as a framework that ensures the social responsibility of technology.

According to the organizers, the forum served as a platform for discussing new forms of academic cooperation between Poland, Uzbekistan, and Central Asian countries. It was attended by rectors, representatives of educational organizations, and international foundations.

It is noted that Samarkand was chosen as a symbolic venue, given its historical role in fostering international cooperation. Within the framework of the forum, prospects for launching joint educational programs and research projects were discussed.
