• 145MILAN, April 22. /Dunyo IA/. The presentation of the exhibition project “When Apricots Blossom”, organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, has been held in the global capital of fashion, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The project, under the artistic direction of architect Kulapat Yantrasast (WHY Architecture), takes place from April 20 to 26 at one of the city’s key cultural and exhibition venues, the Palazzo Citterio, as part of Milan Design Week 2026.
Inspired by the poetic legacy of Hamid Alimjan, the project aims to strengthen Uzbekistan’s cultural presence on the international stage, showcase its rich heritage, promote the development of the creative economy, and highlight contemporary practices in design and craftsmanship.
The exhibition is structured across several spaces of Palazzo Citterio, including the entrance area, inner courtyard, gallery halls, and garden. Each section highlights different aspects of the region’s cultural and natural heritage, including textiles, craft traditions, floral installations, and architectural interpretations.
A central focus of the project is the Aral Sea, explored through the lens of past, present, and future. The exhibition features artistic and research-based materials, including a specially produced film and outcomes of the “Aral School” educational programme.
Special attention is given to collaboration between international designers and Uzbek artisans. Within the framework of the project, unique design objects have been created, reinterpreting traditional Uzbek craftsmanship in a contemporary context.
A yurt-shaped installation has been placed in the garden of Palazzo Citterio. According to the programme, public events featuring international experts, leading global media representatives, and professionals are scheduled through April 26, including lectures, discussions, workshops, and cultural activities.
