“News Network Pakistan”: Uzbekistan conducts population and agricultural censuses in line with international standards

ISLAMABAD, January 22. /Dunyo IA/.  The online publication “News Network Pakistan” has published an article focusing on the organization and conduct of the population and agricultural censuses in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that in Uzbekistan, population census processes are carried out in line with international standards, with the extensive use of modern digital solutions. This approach is aimed at ensuring evidence-based planning of demographic trends, labor resources, social infrastructure and the country’s territorial development.

It is reported that the census is conducted this year during the period from January 15 to February 28 in two stages. At the first stage, from January 15-31, citizens may participate in the census via a specialized information system. At the second stage, from February 4 to 28, the “mahalla of seven” employees will conduct door-to-door visits and fill out forms on tablets.

The online census is being conducted on “census.stat.uz” portal through the “OneID” identification system. All data are monitored using a geographic information system.

To this end, geographic locations of over 7,6 million households and residential facilities have been established throughout the country and special monitoring dashboards have been developed, allowing real-time tracking of progress. All data provided by citizens is protected in line with legal requirements, personal data is confidential and it is used only for statistical purposes. To organize these events at a high organizational level, 14 regional and 208 district and city headquarters have been established. About 60 thousand census takers have been trained. In particular, the process involves 54 thousand “mahalla of seven” representatives, 2,6 thousand reserve employees and 4 thousand members of the territorial headquarters. In particular, 110 explanatory video clips and 600 TV stories have been prepared. 6,300 posts have been published on social media and over 23,000 informational materials have been posted in crowded places and on public transport.

According to Pakistani media reports, 2,48 million households, as well as 31 thousand farms and agricultural enterprises, have been surveyed through a special portal to date.

The article also highlights that President of Uzbekistan has underscored the importance of ensuring the high-quality conduct of the population and agricultural censuses, guaranteeing the reliability of the data collected and making broad and effective use of the results in the formulation and adoption of policy decisions.
