ISLAMABAD, October 12. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani media outlets have published an article entitled “Member States of the Organization of Turkic States: A Crucial Link in the Eurasian Space”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to “Times International News Service”, cooperation among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in transport and logistics is becoming one of the key drivers of regional integration at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
As “The Daily Big Digit” reports, the economic foundation of this cooperation is growing stronger. In 2025, the combined economic potential of the organization's member states exceeded $2.4 trillion, while their growth rate of 6.8 percent was twice the global average. In the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan’s export-import freight traffic with OTS countries totalled 8.5 million tonnes, accounting for approximately 29 percent of the country’s total international freight traffic.
“Urdu Times” notes that the ninth meeting of OTS transport ministers, held in Bishkek on April 23, 2026, highlighted the successful implementation of the e-Permit project. The meeting also saw the signing of a Memorandum on the Implementation of the electronic consignment note system (e-CMR). The system will enable transport documents to be exchanged electronically and significantly reduce border clearance times.
“Daily Digital Posts” reports that the Declaration adopted following the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, on May 15, 2026, outlined a number of practical tasks in the transport sector. The publication notes that, in his address to the summit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of linking the Middle Corridor with the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway currently under construction.
According to “Daily Sapeher Times”, “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” and “Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan” railway projects play a particularly important role in regional integration. The former will provide the shortest route connecting China with Europe and the Middle East, while the latter will link South Asia’s railway network with those of Central Asia and Eurasia.
“Daily Urdu Times” highlights the growing role of the Trans-Caspian route. Over the past five years, the volume of Uzbek cargo transiting through the Port of Baku has doubled, reaching 1.2 million tonnes in 2025. In January–June 2026, the figure stood at 500,000 tonnes, up 2 percent year on year.
In conclusion, Pakistani media emphasise that efforts to establish a unified transport space among Turkic states, together with agreements to link the Middle Corridor with the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway and the Trans-Afghan Corridor, will further strengthen the position of OTS member states within the Eurasian transport system.
