Russian Media: Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its position as one of Central Asia’s fastest-growing tourism destinations

EKATERINBURG, July 1. /Dunyo IA/. An article titled “Uzbekistan welcomed a record 11.7 million tourists” has been published on the travel and information portal “Otdykh Today”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication notes that the authorities of Uzbekistan reported record-breaking indicators for the tourism industry. Following the results of 2025, the country was visited by 11.7 million foreign tourists, which is nearly 47 percent more compared to the previous year. In the first five months of 2026 alone, Republic welcomed around 4.7 million travellers.
It is emphasized that Russia remains one of the key tourism markets for Uzbekistan. In 2025, more than 1.15 million Russians visited the country, making Russia the largest inbound tourism market from non-bordering countries for the Republic.
Article states that according to the Tourism Development Committee of Uzbekistan, the growth of the tourist flow was the result of a large-scale state program for industry development, infrastructure modernization, simplification of travel requirements, and expansion of transport links. The active expansion of transport connections between the countries contributes to the development of tourism. Today, more than 200 regular flights per week are operated between Russian and Uzbek cities.
According to “Otdykh Today”, Uzbekistan prioritizes tourism development, aiming to attract 20 million foreign visitors annually by 2030. The state seeks to significantly boost tourism service exports and the industry's economic impact.
