MOSCOW, June 30. /Dunyo IA/. Russian information and analytical agency “Vestnik Kavkaza” has published an analytical report titled “Why does Uzbekistan need its own commercial and ferry fleet?”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Material notes that the authorities of Uzbekistan intend to establish a sovereign commercial and ferry fleet on the Caspian Sea to significantly expand the throughput capacity of the Uzbek segment within the Middle Corridor.
According to the agency, development of logistics is emerging as a critical driver of state economic growth, as control over transport corridors substantially facilitates the reinforcement of commerce, the attraction of foreign direct investments, and the expansion of economic opportunities. Within this context, the strategic ambition of Uzbekistan to strengthen its presence across the Caspian region is viewed as an integral component of its long-term national strategy.
As underscored within the article, the acquisition or chartering of its own vessels will empower Tashkent to independently influence transit velocities, provide national shippers with the required capacity and reduce strategic dependency on the decisions of other transport market participants. For a nation characterized by a dynamically expanding economy, this step is transitioning into a fundamental practical necessity.
In conclusion, publication notes that the establishment of a sovereign commercial fleet demonstrates a pioneering approach to national development. While a decade ago such an initiative for a double-landlocked nation appeared highly improbable, today it stands as a natural and logical advancement.
“Amid the escalating fragmentation of the global economy, a distinct advantage is secured by nations capable of efficiently leveraging available opportunities. Although Uzbekistan cannot alter its geographic position, it possesses the absolute capability to firmly strengthen its standing on the global transport map”, - the article states.
