Uzbekistan records noticeable acceleration in business activity in February 2026

MADRID, April 6. /Dunyo IA/. The Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, reached 1,124 units, increasing by 12.4% compared to January and by 24.2% compared to the same period last year, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with  Spanish portal “El Mundo Financiero”.

Growth in activity was observed across all key components of the Business Activity Index (BAI). The number of banking transactions by business entities increased by 22%, the intensity of raw material purchases on the commodity exchange rose by 10.6%, the active enterprises component grew by 0.9%, and the registered trademarks component increased by 9.4%.

BAI (Business Activity Index) growth was observed in 13 regions of the country compared to the previous month. Particularly high indicators were recorded in Andijan region (44.8%), Syrdarya region (41.7%), Tashkent region (33.3%), and Kashkadarya region (28.2%). At the same time, the index in the Republic of Karakalpakstan decreased by 0.5%, remaining at a moderate level.

Banking operations in February totaled 6.76 million transactions, an increase of 22% compared to January. Significant growth in the number of interbank payments was noted in Tashkent (24.1%), Surkhandarya (23.3%), Samarkand (21.4%) and Navoi regions (17.7%). Meanwhile, the number of transactions decreased in the Syrdarya region and Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The exchange component of the BAI grew by 10.6%, reaching 1.1058 units. While the number of concluded transactions increased by 36.2%, the average volume of purchased goods decreased by 15.1%. The total trade turnover on the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange reached 6.296 trillion soums, which is 6.5% higher than in January.

The component of active business entities increased by 0.9%, bringing the total number of active enterprises to 508,500, including 4,161 large enterprises, 415,100 small businesses and 89,200 farms.

The trademark component grew by 9.4%, with 430 new trademarks and product names registered in February. Experts note that the February figures reflect steady growth in business activity in Uzbekistan and positive dynamics across all economic sectors, contributing to a stronger entrepreneurial climate and the development of the national economy.
