Average life expectancy in Uzbekistan has increased by nine years since independence

TASHKENT, June 29. /Dunyo IA/.   Average life expectancy of Uzbekistan’s permanent population reached 75.4 years in 2025, which is nine years higher than in 1991, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the average life expectancy in the country stood at 66.4 years in 1991. The indicator subsequently demonstrated steady growth, reaching 69.1 years in 1995, 70.8 years in 2000, 71.8 years in 2005, 73.0 years in 2010, and 73.6 years in 2015.

In 2020, amid the pandemic, the indicator declined slightly to 73.4 years. However, positive growth resumed in the following years. In 2024, average life expectancy reached 75.1 years, and in 2025 it climbed to a new historic high of 75.4 years.

According to experts, the nine-year increase in average life expectancy is one of the clearest indicators of Uzbekistan’s sustainable development. The achieved result reflects the consistent improvement in the quality of life of the population and the effectiveness of the country's healthcare and social policy reforms.
