PRAGUE, May 1. /Dunyo IA/.  Leading Czech media outlets are providing extensive coverage of the official visit to Uzbekistan by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, which marks the final leg of his tour through Azerbaijan and Central Asia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Czech press emphasizes that the visit was characterized by a distinct economic focus, aimed at strengthening the Czech Republic's presence and strategic standing in the region.

According to “IDNES.cz”, the centerpiece of the visit was the high-level meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, where the prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation were discussed. The discussions culminated in the signing of several agreements, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthening their trade and economic ties.

Czech media are paying particular attention to the business component of the visit. As reported by “České noviny”, a business forum was held in Tashkent with the participation of the Prime Ministers of both countries - Andrej Babiš and Abdulla Aripov. The discussions focused on sectors such as mechanical engineering, transport, and tourism, which are viewed as drivers for further cooperation. It is highlighted that the Czech leader was accompanied by a high-level business delegation aimed at expanding investment and trade presence in the region.

A dedicated block of publications is focused on major industrial contracts. Specifically, the online outlets “iROZHLAS.cz” and “Ceske-novinky.cz” highlight an agreement involving “Škoda Group” for the supply of modern electric trains and the establishment of a long-term maintenance system. The project, valued at several billion crowns, is regarded both as a contribution to the modernization of Uzbekistan's railway infrastructure and as a strategic entry for Czech companies into new markets in Central Asia.

The economic dynamics of the bilateral relations are further underscored by the “Forum24.cz” portal, which notes that Czech exports to Uzbekistan have nearly tripled in recent years. Against this backdrop, Andrej Babiš’s visit is viewed as an instrument for the further promotion of Czech products and technologies, primarily in the fields of mechanical engineering, transport solutions and healthcare.

In turn, the “EuropeSays” publication focuses on the broader context, assessing the trip as part of the Czech Republic's long-term course toward strengthening its economic presence in Central Asia. The article underscores Prague’s desire not only to increase exports and investments but also to solidify the position of Czech business in the region's promising markets.

An analysis of Czech media coverage shows that the Prime Minister's visit to Uzbekistan is perceived as a significant step in the development of the bilateral partnership, with a clear emphasis on practical results, industrial cooperation and the expansion of economic engagement.
