ISLAMABAD, April 29. /Dunyo IA/. Ahead of the visit of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to Uzbekistan, the Pakistani publication “The Gulf Observer” has published an article highlighting the development of Uzbekistan–Czech relations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The article, authored by Madina Kayumova, a senior researcher at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, notes that cooperation between the two countries is entering a new stage.
It emphasizes that over more than 30 years, relations between Uzbekistan and Czech Republic have evolved from protocol-level contacts into a systematic partnership covering political dialogue, trade, investment, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1993, while a new phase of intensified cooperation began in 2023 following reciprocal visits at the level of prime ministers and the signing of a joint declaration on expanded partnership.
It is further noted that in 2024–2025, additional high-level contacts took place, including the visit of the Czech Foreign Minister to Tashkent and a meeting of the leaders of both countries on the sidelines of a UN General Assembly session. Particular attention is given to cooperation in investment, transport, innovation, and agriculture.
The publication also highlights the establishment of interparliamentary friendship groups in 2025, which strengthen the institutional framework of bilateral dialogue.
“Overall, Czechia is seen as an important strategic partner of Uzbekistan in Europe, and the complementarity of the two countries’ economies creates potential for deeper industrial cooperation and the implementation of long-term joint projects,” the article concludes.
