BOGOTA, August 16. /Dunyo IA/. The death toll from the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10 has risen to 294, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing “Reuters.”

According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the earthquake affected 448 communities across 15 departments. More than 115,000 people and around 54,000 families were affected.

Rescuers continue searching for people who may be trapped under the rubble. According to the latest reports, hundreds of people remain missing.

A three-day national mourning period was previously declared in memory of those killed. The government is also preparing a recovery plan, while families who lost their homes will receive assistance with rental payments.

The magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck on August 10. Its epicenter was reportedly located near San José del Palmar, about 400 kilometers west of Bogotá.
