“Daily News Hungary”: Uzbekistan plays an active role in Economic Integration within the Organization of Turkic States

BUDAPEST, October 29. /Dunyo IA/. Hungarian news portal “Daily News Hungary” has published an article highlighting Uzbekistan’s role in economic integration within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that the combined economic potential of the OTS countries exceeds $2.1 trillion, while Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with member states reached $10.8 billion in 2025. To translate this potential into practical results, Uzbekistan has proposed creating a “Space of New Economic Opportunities”. The President of Uzbekistan has also proposed establishing a Permanent Council on Economic Partnership of the Turkic States, with its Project Office in Tashkent, as well as a Turkic States Industrial Alliance based on the model of “raw materials – processing – science and technology – finished products”.

Particular attention is given to transport and financial connectivity. Article notes that developing the Middle Corridor and linking it with the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, and eventually with the Trans-Afghan Corridor, could strengthen Central Asia’s potential to become a major transport hub. The Turkic Investment Fund, which focuses on financing joint projects and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, is launching its operational activities in 2026. Uzbekistan has proposed establishing cooperation between the Fund and international financial institutions, particularly the Islamic Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

According to “Daily News Hungary”, digital and “green” economies are emerging as new areas of growth. At the informal summit in Turkistan, Uzbekistan proposed establishing a cooperation network in artificial intelligence and developing a “Digital Turkic Corridor Concept” to connect data centers across the region. The country has also proposed a “Green Transformation” Consortium.
