TASHKENT, July 31. /Dunyo IA/.  U.S. President Donald Trump stated that an agreement on the complete disarmament of Hamas had been reached during talks in Cairo; however, Israel has not yet supported the plan and, according to sources, intends to reject it, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

President said on social media that mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye had agreed with Hamas on a phased disarmament of the group. According to him, as the agreement is implemented, Israeli forces will be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip, while security will be ensured by the International Stabilization Force together with a new Palestinian police force.

“Today, Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement on the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip”, head of state wrote on “Truth Social”. He added that the agreement should pave the way for the administration of Gaza by a new Palestinian government.

A senior Hamas official told the “BBC” that the movement had agreed to the Board of Peace’s plan and was preparing an official statement. At the same time, Hamas negotiating team member Ghazi Hamad told “Al Jazeera” that the group would not take “any steps regarding disarmament until Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip.”

According to “Reuters”, draft agreement stipulates that heavy weapons will be placed under the control of the Palestinian Authority and will not be transferred to Israel. The fate of small arms remains unclear for the time being.

Israeli authorities maintain a skeptical position. A senior Israeli official told the agency that the country would reject the document, as it does not provide for the complete removal of weapons from Gaza and the full demilitarization of the Strip, which Israel demands.

A U.S. source also acknowledged that Israel is “very skeptical” about Hamas’ readiness to fulfill its commitments; however, he emphasized that Washington is confident in the implementation of the deal. “If they do not do so, then obviously President Donald Trump will be very, very disappointed”, he said.

According to “Axios”, agreement is part of the U.S. peace plan for Gaza and provides for Hamas’ renunciation of control over the Strip, transfer of authority to a civilian Palestinian administration, an increase in humanitarian aid, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of international security forces, as well as the destruction of tunnels and weapons infrastructure. At the same time, the timeline for the withdrawal of forces is still being coordinated.

Despite the negotiations, situation in Gaza remains tense. Hamas accuses Israel of strikes against civilians and demands an immediate withdrawal of forces, while Israel states that it is targeting militants. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier stated his intention to expand the territory of the Strip under Israeli military control to 70 percent.
