Kyrgyz Media: Entrepreneurship has become one of the pillars of the economy of Uzbekistan

BISHKEK, August 20. /Dunyo IA/. Kyrgyz information and analytical agency “Alliance-press.kg” has published an article titled “Dialogue with Business in Uzbekistan: Five Years of Change”, focusing on the evolution of interaction between the state and the private sector, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that over the past five years, the open dialogue between the President of Uzbekistan and entrepreneurs has evolved from a feedback mechanism into a sustainable instrument of economic policy. It emphasizes that the key outcome of this process has been a shift from addressing individual problems to systematically reforming the rules governing business, including tax administration, lending and the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights.

Publication analyses the evolution of the five dialogues held to date, from overcoming the consequences of the pandemic and introducing business categorization to large-scale digitalization, export support and startup development. Particular attention is given to significant measures aimed at easing the tax burden, including the reduction of the VAT rate to 12% and the introduction of a preferential 1% turnover tax regime for microbusinesses and self-employed individuals, which is helping bring entrepreneurial activity out of the informal sector.

Article emphasizes that the private sector has become a key pillar of the national economy, accounting for a significant share of GDP, industrial output, and exports. The results achieved, including the doubling of the number of medium-sized and large companies, demonstrate the emergence of a resilient business community capable of competing in international markets.

In conclusion, portal notes that, as Uzbekistan approaches the sixth Open Dialogue, scheduled for August 2026, the country enters it with a qualitatively new business environment. The next stage of reforms is expected to focus on the adoption of artificial intelligence, improving energy efficiency, training highly qualified engineering specialists, and strengthening the position of national brands on the global stage.
