EBRD forecasts Uzbekistan's GDP growth at 6.5% in 2026

KIEV, July 3. /Dunyo IA/.  According to a new report by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the economy of Uzbekistan will maintain high growth rates over the next two years, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with reference to the “Kyiv Diplomatic” magazine.

According to the bank's forecasts, the growth of the country's gross domestic product will amount to 6.5% in 2026 and 6.0% in 2027. It is noted that at the beginning of this year, Uzbekistan demonstrated one of the highest growth dynamics in the region. According to the results of the first quarter, real GDP grew by 8.7% compared to the same period last year.

Primary growth factor remains stable domestic demand. The expansion of remittances and wage increases stimulated the development of the services sector, which continues to be one of the key drivers of the economy. Industry and construction also made significant contributions, with their volumes increasing by 8% and 15.5%, respectively.

According to EBRD estimates, additional potential for accelerating economic growth is linked to the implementation of the privatization program and the further advancement of structural reforms.

According to the forecast, Central Asian countries demonstrate the highest growth rates among all countries where the bank operates. At the same time, Uzbekistan remains one of the most dynamic economies in Central Asia, maintaining a high level of investment and consumer activity.
