“AiF” Newspaper: Trade turnover between Tyumen Region and Uzbekistan rises by 52% in six months

MOSCOW, October 4. /Dunyo IA/. Popular Russian weekly “Argumenty i Fakty” has published an article titled “Trade Turnover between Tyumen Region and Uzbekistan Rises by 52 Percent in Six Months”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication reports that Governor of the Tyumen Region Alexander Moor met with Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov. Following the meeting, the regional governor spoke about strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Publication notes that, according to the Governor, Uzbekistan is one of the key foreign economic partners of the Tyumen Region. Tyumen Region supplies Uzbekistan with chemical industry products, polymer materials, as well as glass, paper, cardboard and wood products. In turn, food products, ferrous metals, and rubber are imported into the region.
It is noted that the partnership extends far beyond trade. Direct air service operates between Tyumen and Tashkent. Humanitarian ties are also actively developing, particularly in education, with students from Uzbekistan studying at higher education institutions in Tyumen and taking part in the region’s national and cultural life.
Publication notes that plans include expanding academic cooperation by involving universities and research organizations of Uzbekistan in activities based at the Interuniversity Campus. The parties intend to conduct joint research, launch master’s degree programs and implement double-degree projects.
