Al-Jarida: Uzbekistan aims to double tourist arrivals from Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, June 25. /Dunyo IA/. Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida has published an interview with Shakhboz Saidkhanov, Adviser to the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and Director of the National PR Center, given on the sidelines of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, a Dunyo IA correspondent reports.

In the interview, Shakhboz Saidkhanov noted that Uzbekistan has emerged as one of the most dynamically developing tourist destinations in the region. According to him, the country is actively working to strengthen its position in the Kuwaiti tourism market, expand bilateral cooperation, increase the number of familiarization tours, and attract Kuwaiti tourism companies and investors.

He emphasized that Uzbekistan possesses all the prerequisites to become an attractive destination for visitors from Kuwait. Among the country’s key advantages, he highlighted its rich history and cultural heritage, diverse national cuisine, traditional crafts, picturesque natural landscapes, and the Islamic architecture of its historic cities.

According to Shakhboz Saidkhanov, the growing flow of tourists is being facilitated by the strengthening of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations. He particularly underscored the importance of the launch of direct flights between the two countries, which has opened up new opportunities for tourism, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation.

He also noted that the National PR Center organizes familiarization trips for Kuwaiti travel agencies, bloggers, and journalists, contributing to the broader promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential.

Shakhboz Saidkhanov stressed that Uzbekistan offers visitors far more than historical attractions. Throughout the year, the country hosts a wide range of festivals, cultural events, and international concerts. In addition, several international film companies are expected to begin shooting films in Uzbekistan starting in September.

Speaking about the promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism brand in Kuwait, he noted that the country actively participates in international exhibitions and is implementing new marketing initiatives. He also invited Kuwaiti tourism companies and investors to take part in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which will be held on November 25–27. An investment forum will be organized as part of the event for the first time.

According to figures cited in the interview, Uzbekistan welcomed more than 11 million foreign tourists in 2025. During the first five months of the current year alone, the country received 5.5 million visitors, representing a 27 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

It was noted that the authorities continue efforts to modernize tourism infrastructure, develop new tourism products, and improve the quality of services.
