WASHINGTON, June 15. /Dunyo IA/. Embassy of Uzbekistan to the United States has received an official letter from the Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, American side welcomed the participation of the Uzbekistan national football team in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the scheduling of one of the team's matches in Atlanta, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the letter, Mayor of Atlanta extended his warmest regards and best wishes to the staff of the Embassy of Uzbekistan.

“On behalf of the City of Atlanta, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to you and to the supporters, visitors, and delegations from Uzbekistan who will be traveling to Atlanta as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We were excited to learn of the announcement confirming that Uzbekistan will compete in Atlanta during the tournament, and we look forward to hosting your national team and its supporters in our city”, - the letter reads.

“Atlanta is proud to serve as a host city for this historic global event. As a city shaped by international communities from around the world, we are deeply committed to being inclusive, diverse, and welcoming. The World Cup presents a powerful opportunity to celebrate not only sport, but also culture, community, and the strong global connections that cities like Atlanta value”.

“My administration looks forward to supporting a safe, vibrant, and memorable experience for all visitors. We are excited to showcase Atlanta’s hospitality, cultural life, and global spirit, and we welcome opportunities to engage with your Embassy and any visiting delegations during this special moment”, - Mayor of the city notes in the letter.

In addition, a schedule of events to be held in the city was attached to the letter: “I would also like to bring your attention to the list of events attached, which includes a variety of cultural, community, and fan experiences that your delegation, colleagues, and supporters may enjoy while visiting Atlanta during the tournament period”.

As a reminder, the Uzbekistan national team has decided to base itself within the Atlanta metropolitan area for the duration of the FIFA World Cup. The team will be headquartered at the “Atlanta United” training complex in Marietta.
